Rule 31
Sick leave

(1) Police employees will get twelve days sick leave every year.
(2) Police personnel requesting sick leave for a period of more than five days shall submit a certificate from an approved physician. However, if the authority granting leave believes that it is not possible to submit such a certificate, he can approve the leave without the certificate.
(3) If the accumulated home leave and sick leave is not available for treatment for a major or serious illness, such police officer may take additional sick leave up to forty-five days as a deduction from the home leave or sick leave that he will get later, by submitting an approved doctor's certificate. The police personnel who have taken such advance leave will get their full salary.
(4) Police personnel under suspension shall not be entitled to sick leave for that period.
